Penerapan Metode PBL untuk Meningkatkan Aktivitas Belajar Siswa pada Elemen Gambar Konstruksi Utilitas Gedung di SMKN 1 Singosari

This study aims to enhance student learning activities in the subject of Building Utility Construction Drawing and Plumbing Systems for Class XI DPIB 1 at SMK Negeri 1 Singosari through the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was conducted in two cycles, involving 33 students. Initial observations revealed low student participation (only 3 active students) and a learning completeness rate of 60.61%. In Cycle I, the average student activity score reached 11.94 (59.70%, MODERATE category), indicating that the success indicator (80% of students achieving the Minimum Mastery Criteria/KKM) had not yet been met. Reflections from Cycle I led to strategic improvements, such as random group formation, material visualization, reward systems, and enhancing the teacher’s role as a facilitator. In Cycle II, the student activity score increased to 16.00 (80.00%, GOOD category), with learning completeness reaching 90.91%. The findings demonstrate that PBL effectively creates an interactive, collaborative, and industry-relevant learning environment while boosting motivation, analytical skills, and students’ readiness for the workforce. This study recommends applying PBL to other technical subjects using a similar approach.
